Single parents are no longer an uncommon sight. There are many parents especially women that are having and raising a baby on their own. When a person has a child out of wedlock they have a strong support system around them. They get close to friends and family that are willing to help out. The child will be loved by those around them and will learn how to build lasting relationships.
Parents are able to choose the way they want to raise their children. They do not have to compete with one another and give the child mixed messages. This can lead to more consistency in the home and the child will know the rules and what is expected of them.

Children need to feel bonded with a parent at an early age. If a parent is absent there may be feelings of abandonment. The child is going to what to know why the other parent is not around and may blame themselves.
A single parent at one point will want to date. Everyone needs companionship. This can be an issue for their child. If a parent brings a number of different suitors around the child this can lead to confusion.
